Glasgow Storm 45 vs 98 St Mirren West College Scotland
St Mirren West College Scotland Senior Men paid a visit to the Kelvin Hall this week to take on Glasgow Storm. This fixture in the past has produced some tight scores and the occasional upset however the Storms recent performances had the visiting Saints looking for a victory.
Chris Cleary and Euan Glass returned to the Saints squad this week to boost the points scoring.
A confident start to the game from Saints with early scores from Dave Johnston, Nick Collins and Chris Barron saw Saints take an early lead. Chris Cleary then entered the game and made an instant impact with back to back 3 pointers and then a 3 point play as Saints led 25-13 at the end of the period.
The second quarter saw Storm make their stand and try and get back into the game as an early 3 pointer from Bryson led the way. Saints Cleary had another 3 pointer and Collins made 8 points in the closing minutes of the period as Saints got to the half at 44-31.
A good third quarter was needed and sure enough the Saints produced as they imposed themselves to restrict the home team to only 10 points as Fergus Harte, Barron and Colin Railley all found the mark as another 24 points were added to the score.
68-41 going into the last quarter had Saints in control and they pressed home their advantage as they ran the floor and all the Saints players scored as they added another 30 points. The home team challenge disappeared under the onslaught as they could only score twice in ten minutes. Saints convincing victory at 98-45 was a fair return for their efforts and maintains their challenge at the top of the league.Saints top scorers were Chris Cleary 27, Nick Collins 25, Fergus Harte 16 and Chris Barron 13 points.
